Pretty riding day, scenery changed to grassland with closer mountains and winding roads. While “only 55 miles”, a good headwind for 20 miles challenged us. Getting good pace line practice. Nice snack in Alpine and lunch in Marathon. Tomorrow is a non riding day, and we’re driving to Big Bend National Park. I am looking forward to that!
Two local astronomers, Bill and Bart, gave us a terrific view of the moon and Jupiter, including four of its moons, using his telescope (20” mirror, 200X magnification), which is stored at the campground.
Sunrise this morning, I thought the airstream camper and wind vane represented Texas.

Bill, a local astronomer, sets up his telescope. We got to see the moon and Jupiter and other constellations.
