HELLO!

Welcome back. Seven years after my first ride across the United States, I am doing it again.

This blog will document my trek.

My Bike

My Bike

The bike I’ll be riding on this trip is the same one I rode in 2019, a Surly Disc Trucker.

Some of the upgrades I made to my bike include: 700mm x 35mm Schwalbe GT Tour tires, a Tubus rear rack, an Ortlieb Classic Handlebar bag, a Bike Nashbar Trunk bag, frame pump, water bottles, Bontrager fenders, Race Face flat pedals, and a Brooks B17 saddle. My cycling computer is a Garmin 130 Plus and I’ll use my Iphone for pictures.

In preparation for this ride, I had my bike “tuned” at Bike Depot in New Paltz, NY. They did a great job, repacking the bearings, replacing all the cables, changing brake pads, installing new tires and handlebar tape, and performed other maintenance items. Here’s Lee, from Bike Depot, who did the work.
