HELLO!

Welcome back. Seven years after my first ride across the United States, I am doing it again.

This blog will document my trek.

Training

Training

I get asked alot about my training plan for a ride like this.

I started “training” for this ride on November 1, 2025 even though I biked throughout 2025, including riding the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia.

In November, I set a target of riding 3 days per week, either outside or on my spin bike in my basement.

In December, I increased the frequency to 5 days per week. Living in New York, this winter has been very cold and snowy, making outdoor riding difficult after mid November. In addition to riding, I also targeted getting to the gym 3 to 4 times per week. Gym work focused on stretching, rowing, knee specific exercises with ankle weights, and weight training.

In late February, I visited Nokimis, Florida with Amy, Kathy, and George to get some road miles in before the ride. I rented a bike at Bicycle International in Venice and rode the Legacy Trail and Island Loop several times, 251 miles total.

Hopefully, I’ll be ready…
